So...we're back. Like every season, we know something about the NFL: we don't know nothing about the NFL!
Six weeks have already come and gone. Facts?
There are only two teams (Texans, Ravens) in the AFC that have a plus .500 record. The NFC West has more total victories than any other division in the NFL, with all its teams with or above .500. The refs came back after the substitutes were about to be burnt alive after being tortured by eating extra-sharp Wisconsin Munster. Pats don't look like the contenders they are. Ray Lewis is kind'a out of the game with a torn triceps and seemingly out for the rest of the season. Falcons are still undefeated, while the Saints sit at the botton of the NFC South at 1-4 coming out of their bye.
Should I go on?
The AFC East looks like this: Pats 3-3, Jets 3-3, Bills 3-3, Fins 3-3 (no typing mistakes). Steelers (2-3) are third in their division, Cowboys (also 2-3) fourth. Randy Moss is open......oh.....dropped, but give him the credit for being there. T.O. is nowhere to be seen (well, yes, on Canadian TV), "joking" with Rex Ryan about a job. Plax is also marketing himself. Ocho-Johnson...I know nothing about him.
The Hawks look good, so do the Vikes. After a surprisive 4-0 start, the Cards are coming back to Earth, hard, wings clipped and all. Kolb had his 15 minutes, now it's time to send Skelton to the frontline again.
Neither the Browns (1-5), nor the Dolphins (3-3), deserve their records, they should be higher in the standings, but rookies will be rookies, either way Weeden and Tannehill look good. Give them 32 games, we'll see.
Shawne "Lights-out" Merriman is back...again. Why? Because Mario "I miss Texas" Williams is nowhere to be seen, but that opened the door for J.J. Watt to sweep everybody off their feet. Literally. Mathews is still a beast while Raji had to stop dancing for a while with a bum ankle. Rodgers got criticized and questioned so he threw for 6 TD's in Houston last week, beating the 5-0 Texans by 18, that seemed like 50.
The "Monsters of the Midway" are back. They lead the league on takeaways and points scored on the defense. Briggs (2 pick 6's in 2 consecutive games) is faster than everybody expected, while Tillman seems younger every year. Hester is still return-less, but he is getting better at offense.
Giant Manning has been unstoppable while Bronco Manning seems to have more arm left than everybody thought, he looks like he's warming up for something big after coming back from a 24 point deficit to score 35 unanswered points last Monday at San Diego.
Megatron is kind'a, sort'a suffering the Madden curse but, for my Fantasy's sake, he will get better.
Bye bye Newton, hello RGIII, even after suffering a mild concussion (but a huuuuge hit), he ran for 140 and change with a single TD run adding up half the yardage. Luck looks good too, but the Colts are still lightyears away from what they were.
Fantasy-wise; here's the deal: CJ2K is not running anywhere, Gronk is unstoppable, Rodgers and Brees and Brady and Ryan are what we thought they were, Run DMC is not being helped by his team at all, Brandon Marshall has Chicago happy and Marshawn Lynch leads the NFL in rushing yards (652 skittles).
Seems like a whole season, right? It's only the start of the 7th week. With Thursday nights now reserved for football too, I'll be writing more often 'cause now I'll really lose my girlfriend and most of my friends and family.
But I don't really care, I love the NFL!
